04 · FAQ

Clear answers before you try it

Simple answers about sharing, check-ins, privacy, and staying connected.

Can trusted contacts actually see my live location?

Yes. While your journey is active and your device can share its location, people with your private journey link can see your latest location. You can stop sharing at any time.

What if location permission is off?

Halovia cannot start or update a journey until location permission is on. Turn it on in your browser or phone settings, then try again.

What happens when my phone is locked?

Some phones pause browser location updates when the screen is locked or Halovia is in the background. Keep Halovia open during a journey and agree on a backup plan with the people you trust.

What happens if my phone loses internet?

People following your journey will see your last location and that updates are paused. Halovia will try to continue when your connection returns.

When does location sharing stop?

Sharing stops when you end the journey, stop access, or the private link expires.

Can Halovia contact emergency services?

No. The dialer action can open your device’s phone app with a saved number, but Halovia does not place the call or dispatch emergency services.

Does Halovia automatically message my contacts?

No. Halovia creates a private journey link for you to share. It does not send messages, calls, or invitations on its own.

What happens when I ask for help?

Your active shared journey shows that you may need support, and Halovia shows the contact options available on your device. Nothing is sent without your confirmation.

Does Halovia work outside India or the United States?

The web app can be opened where its hosting and map services are available. Country, locale, language, and emergency number are separate settings; no regional emergency-service integration exists.

Is Halovia free?

The MVP has no payment or subscription system. Hosting, map, storage, and database usage may incur operator costs as usage grows.

Does the map need an internet connection?

Yes. Search, routes, and the interactive map need a connection. If the map cannot load, Halovia shows a clear retry option instead of a substitute map.
